Biocides and their uses are one of the most highly regulated types of chemical products. The regulations ensure that neither the manufacturer, the consumer or the environment are harmed. Over time the regulations for biocides have become very strict, especially concerning issues such as toxicity and environmental impact.
The recommended dosages of biocides for many products and processes are generally less than 1% of the total weight of the product and are optimized to protect the product and to control processes from attack from microorganisms. The function of the biocide in the product is generally of limited duration but often more of the biocide is required to meet long periods of usage in various applications.
